The objective of CAGA is to enhance the educational and professional development of healthcare practitioners, such as gastroenterologists, hepatologists, pathologists, radiologists, oncologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians, geriatricians, and researchers, who work in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology and have ties to Chinese culture and live in North America.

The Association strives to support its members and non-members, through promoting professional communication, sponsoring medical education, fostering academic and practice partnerships, and advocating for training and employment opportunities.

Additionally, CAGA aims to benefit the general public by offering educational programs that spread scientific knowledge and improve public health. The organization works towards establishing international collaborations with other organizations in gastroenterology and hepatology.
